11+ Pre-Test English and Verbal Reasoning
The 11 Plus Pre-Test is an important early stage in the admissions process for many top senior schools in the UK. Taken in Year 6 or 7, these online adaptive tests are used by leading day and boarding schools as part of their initial selection. At LARA Tuition and Consultancy, we provide individualised one-to-one support focused on the English and Verbal Reasoning components of the assessment.
Our approach is designed to build strong foundational skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary and verbal reasoning, while also developing confidence with online testing formats. We support both UK-based and international pupils who may be unfamiliar with the British system, providing gentle, expert guidance every step of the way.
What We Offer
Verbal Reasoning: Our lessons introduce and practise key elements such as identifying synonyms and antonyms, completing word patterns, understanding letter codes and solving logic-based questions. Students are taught strategies to improve their speed, accuracy and reasoning under timed conditions.
English Preparation: We focus on comprehension skills, sentence completion, spelling and higher-level vocabulary. Lessons are text-rich and designed to develop both critical reading and written fluency.
Assessment and Feedback: Each student begins with a written and verbal baseline assessment. After every session, they receive individual feedback, and parents are kept up to date through detailed monthly reports.
Homework and Resources: Carefully selected homework tasks and reading materials are provided after each lesson. These allow students to consolidate what they have learned and gain confidence in applying their skills independently.
Planet BOFA
For our 11 Plus Pre-Test preparation, we use Planet BOFA, a trusted and intelligent online platform used by many leading schools and tutors across the UK. It adapts to each child's responses, helping us identify their strengths and areas for development with precision.
BOFA allows for targeted practice and builds familiarity with the adaptive format used in real pre-tests, giving students the tools and confidence to perform at their best.
